Day 13
Hello All!
Things are going well! I am getting to know the city and making some friends! The course is hard! I am writing my own 55 minute lesson plan to give to a class on Monday morning! I have already done one 55 minute class period, which went well! We are teaching a class of volunteer Thai students. My class is about 15 higher level English speakers, and what fun they are!
Last night I went out to dinner with a few of the women from class and then we bought mojitos and got foot massages. Best Friday night yet!
Today I am doing class work, and later a few of us are going to check out Doi Suthep. It is a wat on a mountain, supposedly the highest point in Chiang Mai! There are several waterfalls and lots of culture. Tomorrow (Sunday) a few of us are going to some hot springs to swim and relax.
As for what is next... I don't know! My goal is to live in the moment and not worry about the future!
Love,
El

Live from Chiang Mai - Week 1
Posted: January 5 2010
Day 3 in Thailand.
I am doing pretty well so far! I had such a long plane ride all alone! (17 hours+ 2 other flights). I finally made it to Chiang Mai on January 3rd at 9 in the morning. I then took a tuk tuk (scooter taxi) to my hotel and took a long nap. Starting on Thursday I will be attending a SIT Tesol certification course for 4 weeks. The school is called AUA language center and it is in the heart of Chiang Mai, Thailand. After the certification course I will start looking for a job as an English teacher in Thailand.Last night I met with two other women from the US who will be taking the course. We went to dinner (i ate green curry - delish!) and then we went to the night bazaar. Shopping, shopping, beer, shopping! Today I am looking for a place to live for the month. There are many guest houses to choose from but it is hard to find a nice place for a decent price. It is the "high" season here now so everything costs a little more. However, I am finding my classmates in the same predicament.
